TALKING TO KEAN U. DESIGN STUDENTS: "THE UNGLOSSY HIGHLIGHT REEL"

Last night, I had the honor of speaking to Kean students at the invitation of professors Trevett McCandlisss and Nancy Campbell.

SO I put to together a talk that became “THE UNGLOSSY HIGHLIGHT REEL.”

Here is a snippet from the intro:
“Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of redesigning magazines, launching brands, working across continents, and occasionally wondering how on earth I ended up in certain boardrooms. From the outside, it all looks so glossy.

What I want to share with you tonight isn’t just a highlight reel. It’s the real story: the wild turns, the lucky breaks, the risks that terrified me and the challenges helped me grow.

These are three traits I've cultivated and leaned into over the years. Without doubt, they are what helped me through some incredibly thrilling and seemingly impossible assignments.
1. Resilience
2. Curiosity
3. Self Challenge

My hope is that you walk away tonight with a sense of possibility.  Not because everything will go smoothly — it won’t — but because you are far more capable, resilient, and imaginative than you currently realize. All of that matters more than you may think!”
